We’re the crew that shows up when your garage door won’t budge at 6 a.m. or when you’re staring at a busted spring and wondering if your car’s trapped until Tuesday. Every person on this page lives in or around Celina. We know the clay soil here shifts foundations, we know which neighborhoods get the worst hail, and we know that a door that worked fine in November might sound like a train wreck by February. Carl Dutton, Owner

I started Mainspring in 1984, back when Celina was barely a dot on the map and most folks out here still had manual doors they lifted themselves. Named the company for the mainspring, the coil that carries the full weight of a door - because that’s the part nobody thinks about until it snaps. Still answer the phone myself some nights, still drive out to jobs when a technician hits something unusual. Factory-trained on LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, Clopay, Amarr, Wayne Dalton, Craftsman, and Raynor. The thing that still gets me after 42 years? Watching a homeowner’s face when we get their door working again and they realize they won’t miss work tomorrow. I sign the 90-Day Done Right Promise on every job myself. If it’s not right, we come back. No paperwork, no arguing. That’s been the deal since day one.

Marcus T., Lead Technician

Marcus has been with us eight years, and he’s the one we send when a door’s doing something nobody can diagnose. Certified in high-tension spring systems and trained to handle the heavier Clopay and Amarr insulated doors that are everywhere now in newer Celina builds. He grew up in McKinney, so he knows exactly how the black clay around here swells in wet seasons and throws door alignment off by half an inch - enough to chew up a track over six months. Marcus keeps a notebook of every weird fix he’s seen, and he’ll tell you about the time he found a rattlesnake coiled in a garage door motor housing out near Light Farms. Didn’t panic. Just shut the door, called the homeowner, and waited. He’s got two kids in Prosper ISD and coaches Little League on weekends he doesn’t get emergency calls.

Elena R., Senior Installer

Elena runs our new door and replacement installs, and she’s particular about measurements in a way that saves everyone headaches later. She’s factory-authorized on Wayne Dalton and Raynor full-view aluminum doors, plus the custom wood-overlay lines we’re seeing more of in the older downtown Celina renovations. Before she joined us four years ago, she spent six years in commercial dock-leveler work, so she thinks in tolerances most residential crews never worry about. Elena lives out near the Celina Municipal Airport, and she’ll mention that the wind exposure out there taught her to brace doors differently than the manuals suggest. Off the clock, she’s rebuilding a 1978 Chevy pickup in her garage. Says it’s good practice for patience.

He’s been with Mainspring three years, and he knows which technician is where, which trucks have which parts, and whether your “grinding noise” is likely a gear issue or a track problem before he even dispatches anyone. He’s not reading from a script. Darnell grew up in Sherman, moved to Celina after his wife took a teaching job at Celina High School, and he treats every call like it’s his neighbor because half the time it is. He’s the one who makes sure you get your $50 off repairs over $250, your senior or veteran 5% discount, and your written upfront price before anyone turns a wrench. Darnell’s also the reason our 24/7 line actually works - no phone trees, no voicemail, no after-hours service farming it out to someone who’s never heard of Celina.

Jesse P., Apprentice Technician

Jesse’s in his second year with us, working toward full journeyman status under Marcus. He’s already certified in opener diagnostics and basic cable replacement, and he’s the one who handles most of our $89 Seasonal Tune-Up calls - the lubrication, balance check, safety sensor alignment, and hardware tightening that keeps doors from becoming emergencies. Jesse’s from Frisco originally, but he’s been in Celina long enough to know which streets flood in hard rain and which garage floors slope enough to mess with door seals. He’s got a knack for explaining what’s wrong without talking down to anyone. Still asks questions on every job, which is exactly what we want. His dad was a firefighter in Plano for 30 years, and Jesse says that’s where he learned that showing up prepared matters more than showing off.
